The Epitome of Failure

A new video from Osama Bin Laden was televised today. Here is Bin Laden, alive, well, and able to make videos and somehow get them into the hands of media outlets. This symbolizes why George W. Bush and his administration are the epitome of failure.

On just about every subject, Bush has been a catastrophic failure. But his worst failure is surely that Bin Laden hasn't been brought to justice. What is also a huge miscarriage of justice is that the public and voters haven't held Bush accountable for his failure to "get Bin Laden, dead or alive." Any Democratic president would have been drawn and quartered long ago for this one failure alone, let alone the Iraq disaster, the economy, deficit, and attempts to further rape the environment and deny/ignore global warming and the effects it will wreak worldwide in the coming years.

Not that long ago, Charles Taylor in Salon, reviewing Nicholson Baker's recent novel, wrote that it is difficult for an intelligent person to wake up every day, take in the days' news, and not become quietly enraged at this president and his administration. That's how I feel. My intelligence and my longing for justice is outraged not only by George Bush but by the fact that so many people can ignore facts that are practically written in fire across the sky and actually believe, like, and support this manifest idiot.

You're Wrong, Bush

In a campaign speech I saw earlier on TV today, Bush said that John Kerry is "The wrong man for the wrong job at the wrong time."

This is so stupid it makes my head hurt. I'm not talking about the political premise in the statement. Even if I agreed with the premise, it is expressed so poorly and stupidly that it pains me. Isn't Kerry, if you dislike him, the wrong man for the right job (the Presidency) at the right time (meaning now)? How can it be the wrong job? I mean we're electing a president, aren't we? Is there some other job Bush and Kerry are applying for that we aren't being made aware of? And then this "wrong time" stuff. Is there some other time we're having this election that I don't know about?

Bush could have said, "John Kerry is the wrong man for the job," and have spoken one sentence correctly. He couldn't even manage that. Bush's campaign slogan should be "Hire the handicapped."

100,000 Liberated!

A new study published in Lancet shows that probably 100,000 Iraqi civilians, mostly women and children, have died as a result of our invasion of Iraq.

Hey, we liberated them from Saddam's tyranny, didn't we? Too bad they're never going to be around to express their extreme gratitude.

Election Prediction

Regrettably, I'm predicting that George W. Bush will win reelection by a 2-3 point margin in Tuesday's presidential election. No big analysis here, just laying my cards on the table.

I can't understand why anyone would still be unable to choose between these two candidates, but I think that when the undecided voters go into their voting booths, their hands hovering around the lever/stylus/touchscreen, they will go back and forth in their minds and ultimately decide out of fear and uncertainty that Bush will protect them better than Kerry. Polls that break down the likely voters by issue have shown that many more voters beleive that Bush is stronger on national seciurity than Kerry and that Bush has/will do better with the Iraq war, despite the damning evidence otherwise.
