Despite the formulaic sillines and smugness often on display on his show, Keith Olbermann occasionally justifies his show's existence with one of his special comments. Today's special comment was Olbermann's finest moment to date.
The way the network news broadcasts covered the speeches of Cheney and Obama was dispiriting, if unsurprising. I watched the ABC Evening News, which showed clips from the speeches in a parallel fashion, lending them a false equivalency. Instead of pointing out Cheney's repeated falsehoods, Charlie Gibson threw the ball to George Stephanopolous, who repeated Cheney's assertions as if they were proven fact.
